World Weightlifting C'ships 2024: Indian squad, Preview, Schedule, Live Stream

Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming World Weightlifting Championships 2024.

In absence of Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu, an all women three member Indian contingent will take part in the World Weightlifting Championships 2024 starting tomorrow.

Tokyo Olympics silver medalist Mirabai will miss the tournament due to focus on rehabilitation.

She last competed at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she finished fourth.

Gyaneshwari Yadav will represent India in the women's 49kg division in absence of Mirabai.

Gyaneshwari is a junior world championships silver medalist and is in the Group A of her category.

Commonwealth Games medalist Bindyarani Devi will complete in the women's 55kg category.

She will be in Group B and compete in a non-Olympic category.

Another Indian lifter Ditimoni Sonowal will compete I in the Group C of 64kg- another non-Olympic category.

India will have no representation in the men’s categories in Manama this year.

Last year four Indian male weightlifters- Achinta Sheuli, Ajith Narayan, Gurdeep Singh and Shubham Tanaji Todkar participated in the World Championships.

India's last medal at the World Championships was won by Mirabai Chanu at the 2022 edition in Bogota, Colombia where she had lifted 200kg in total to clinch the silver medal.

December 7- Women’s 49kg (A) - 8:00 PM

December 8- Women’s 55kg (B) - 5:30 PM

December 10- Women’s 64kg (C) - 12:30 PM
