World Weightlifting C’ship 2024: Sonowal fails to impress
India’s campaign ended with Ditimoni Sonowal’s lowly finish in the women’s 64kg category.
The curtains came down on India’s campaign at the IWF World Weightlifting Championships 2024 in Mahama, Bahrain on Monday.
India’s final contender, Ditomoni Sonowal, could only muster a 5th place finish in Group C of Women's 64 Kg.
She lifted a total of 204 Kg (89kg in the snatch and 115kg in the clean and jerk), which incidentally was 6 Kg lesser than her personal best of 210kg which she registered at the Nationals in October this year.

With this results India’s campaign at the IWF World Weightlifting Championships 2024 drew to a close.
Earlier, on Sunday, Commonwealth Games silver medalist Bindyarani Devi finished ninth in the women's 55kg category.
Also, on Saturday, Gyaneshwari Yadav – who had replaced Mirabai Chanu - lifted a total of 182kg to finish fifth in the women’s 49kg weight category.
In all, the IWF World Weightlifting Championships 2024 in Mahama, Bahrain turned out to be a rather forgettable campaign for India.
