Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, Bihar.

Patna Police in Bihar on Sunday registered a sexual harassment case against a former office-bearer of the Bihar Weightlifters' Association for allegedly harassing a female athlete.

The police said the incident took place around 1 PM on Saturday at the office of the association in Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna.

The Patna Police registered the case based on a complaint filed by the female athlete at the Kankarbagh police station, alleging that the former official attempted to sexually assault her inside the office of the association.

"On the basis of the complaint filed by the victim, a case has been registered and the matter is being further investigated," said Kankarbagh's SHO Neeraj Kumar Thakur.

This development followed by a thrashing of a young badminton player by a district officer of Madhepura district put Bihar under the scanner at a time when the state won the hosting rights for two big-ticket domestic events.

The state will host the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025 in April next year. For the first time, the Khelo India Para Games (KIPG), which was organized for the first time in Delhi last year, will also be held in the same state. There will be a gap of 10 to 15 days between KIYG and KIPG.
