The US Open 2024 is set to begin on Monday, with four Indians will be featuring in the competition.

Sumit Nagal will be the only Indian competing in the men's singles category, as he will look to close out a remarkable 2024 with a good showing at the Grand Slam.

He will become the first Indian man since 2019 to feature in the singles event of all four Grand Slam tournaments in a year.

Prajnesh Gunneswaran in 2019 and Yuki Bhambri in 2018 were the last Indian men to attain the feat.

Currently ranked 72nd in the world, Nagal created history when he progressed to the second round at the Australian Open as the first Indian player since 1989. But he was eliminated in the first round at the French Open and Wimbledon.

At the Paris Olympics, he became just the second Indian player after Leander Paes, to qualify for the singles event in back-to-back editions of the Summer Games.

Nagal lost in the first round in Paris, losing to Frenchman Corentin Moutet in a hard-fought match.

He is set to face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor, ranked world no.40, in his first match at the US Open.

Nagal will also compete in the men's doubles event, partnering up with Japan's Yoshihito Nishioka.

Second-seeded Rohan Bopanna will compete in the men's doubles event partnering Australia's Matthew Ebden. The Australian Open winners will enter the tournament as one of the favourites.

The Indo-Australian pair finished as runners-up in the 2023 US Open, losing to the American-British pair of Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury.

Rohan Bopanna's doubles partner at the Paris Olympics, Sriram Balaji, will also feature in the men's doubles, partnering up with Guido Andreozzi from Argentina.

Yuki Bhambri will round up the four Indians at the US Open, set to play the men's doubles with his pair Albano Olivetti.
