Sania Mirza's father, Imran Mirza, has dismissed claims circulating on social media about the former Indian tennis star, clarifying that a viral photograph featuring her and former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin is AI-generated.

The clarification also rejected claims that a mosque is being constructed on the land housing the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy.

The statement addressed speculation surrounding the academy and the authenticity of the image, describing the photograph circulating online as fake.

It further stated that any social, charitable or philanthropic activities undertaken by Sania, whether in the past, present or future, are her personal matter. Such initiatives should not be publicised or attributed to her without proper verification, particularly when she has not confirmed them herself.

The clarification comes amid concerns over the spread of manipulated images and unverified claims involving public figures on social media.

AI-generated content can appear authentic, making it increasingly important for media organisations and social media users to verify images and claims before sharing or reporting them.
