Rohan Bopanna and Matthew Ebden wrapped up their successful partnership on a high note with a win at the Nitto ATP finals in Turin on Saturday.
The Indo-Australian duo defeated the German duo of Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz 7-5, 6-7(6), 10-7 in a thrilling match.
Despite Krawietz and Puetz entering the contest with two Round Robin victories, Bopanna and Ebden delivered a spirited performance to clinch the win.
With this Bopanna, the 44-year-old became the oldest man to win a match at the ATP finals, in either singles or doubles.
The ATP Finals, a prestigious year-end tournament featuring the worldβs top eight singles players and doubles teams, served as the stage for this remarkable milestone.
The match marked the end of the Indo-Australian duoβs partnership, as both players have announced plans to team up with different partners for the 2025 season.
Their final triumph together capped an impressive run and solidified their legacy as one of the standout doubles pairs of the last couple of seasons.
The duo started the 2024 season with a powerful start winning the Australian Open and getting themselves to the World number one.
Reflecting on their journey, Bopanna remarked in an interview with ATP Tour, βI think we have had a great two years together, and to finish on a high note, I think it will be beautiful.β
