The Indo-French pair of Yuki Bhambri and Albano Olivetti suffered defeat in the first round of the men's doubles match at the Australian Open 2025 on Wednesday.

The duo lost to Australian wildcard entrants Tristan Schoolkate and Adam Walton in straight sets 2-6, 6-7 (3-7).

With the crowd rallying behind the local players, the Australians were in red-hot form, starting the match on the front foot and duly raced to a 4-1 lead in the first set.

Although Bhambri and Olivetti won the next game, the Australians ran away with the first set, winning it 6-2 and took a commanding 1-0 lead in the match.

The second set was not as easy as the first, and the Indo-French pair fought back, keeping things on level terms for the most part and took the game into a tiebreaker round.

But in the tie-breaker round, the Australians once again took control, winning it comfortably 7-3 to pocket the set and the match.

Frenchman Olivetti was seen struggling towards the end of the second set and was not in optimal physical condition during the tiebreaker round, which proved fatal for the pair.

After a bright start to the year where Bhambri and Olivetti reached the semifinals of the recently concluded Auckland Open, a first round exit at the Australian Open will be a disappointment for the pair.
