Services defend National Water Polo Championship title
This was Services' second successive title at the national championship. Last year as well, they defeated two-time champions Railways to claim the national crown.
Services emerged as the unbeaten champions at the 77th Senior National Water Polo and Diving Championship, held in Thiruvananthapuram.
On Sunday, Services defeated Railways 12-8 in the men's final, securing the gold medal. Bhagesh Jagdish Kuthe of Services was named the tournament’s best player after scoring an impressive 16 goals.
This was Services' second successive title at the national championship. Last year as well, they defeated two-time champions Railways to claim the national crown.
In the women's competition, Kerala emerged champions, defeating Bengal 14-6 to claim the national title.
Kerala's RR Kripa was adjudged as the best player, having netted an extraordinary 26 goals throughout the tournament.
The five-day event, which concluded on September 22, saw participation from 14 teams. Services also claimed the title in the Diving championship.
Esha Waghmode of CCTC, Solapur Division, earned two silver medals in Springboard Diving (1m and 3m), while Om Awasthi, also from CCTC, clinched gold in High Board Diving (10m).
