Days after Jaspal Rana was appointed as High Performance Coach for 25m pistol events by the National Rifle Association of India, Manu Bhaker asserted that he will continue to be her coach.

The double Olympic medallist was speaking just after winning the BCC Sportswoman of the Year on Monday.

"Honestly, I only have to say one thing that he [Rana] is my coach all I know and he is very good at what he does," Bhaker was quoted as saying by PTI. "He is very, very talented and he has been a great coach for me.

"All I know and all I can say is that he is my coach. Of course, he can be anyone else's coach as well but for me he is my coach," she added.

Bhaker has worked with Rana since her teenage years. The two had a massive public fall out following the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the shooter registered a below par performance.

With Bhaker struggling for form post the Olympics disappointment, they duo once again joined hands with the Paris Olympics in mind.

Bhaker had a stellar run in Paris, becoming the first Indian woman shooter to win an Olympic medal. She also bagged two medals in the quadrennial event, becoming the first athlete from the country to do so.

She was on a long break from the sport since then until early this month, when she returned to action at the National Trials for the upcoming events.

Bhaker will be seen competing in multiple ISSF World Cups through out the 2025 season. The biggest event for her this year, however, is the World Championships, which will be held in Cairo, Egypt in November.
