India's Sameer clinched the gold medal in men's 25m rapid fire pistol at the 2026 ISSF Junior World Championships in Suhl, Germany on Friday.

Sameer registered a total of 28 hits in the final to be crowned the world champion.

The Indian staved off a late challenge from France's Arnaud Gamaleri, who finished second with 27 hits, to secure the top spot on the podium.

Sameer trailed Gamaleri by a shot at the end of the sixth series before shooting a flawless seventh series with five hits to take a two-shot lead.

He then faltered in the final series, with just one hit on target but managed to hold on as the Frenchman failed to go past two.

Earlier, Sameer had finished sixth in the qualification round, shooting a total of 572 to qualify for the final.
