A day after reports of her stepping down as the chairperson of Indian Olympic Association's Athletes Commission surfaced, Mary Kom has refuted the claims.
The 2012 London Olympics medallist asserted that she will complete her tenure with the apex body, which ends next year.
"I have not resigned," Kom was quoted as saying by PTI. "I will complete my tenure."
Kom was reportedly unhappy with the hotel she was lodged in during the closing ceremony of the recently concluded 2025 National Games in Haldwani, Uttarakhand.
"I was merely telling my fellow [athletes commission] that if this kind of treatment happens again, I will consider resigning," the six-time world champion said. "I never said I am resigning.
"IOA is my family and if I am unhappy over something, I have every right to express it," she added.
Kom was appointed as the chairperson of the athlete commission back in 2022 following PT Usha's election as the Indian Olympic Association President.
Kom heads the ten-member commission, which also has table tennis veteran Achanta Sharath Kamal as its vice-chairperson.
The others in the committee include Om Prakash Karhana, Shiva Kesavan, Gagan Narang, Bajrang Lal, Bhavani Devi, Rani Rampal, and PV Sindhu.
