The Indian volleyball team’s dream of reclaiming victory in the classification match at the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship remained unfulfilled as they lost 2-3 to a fiery Pakistan side, to finish eighth overall. India was edged out by a 23-25, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19, 6-15 scoreline in five sets.

India, who otherwise came into the match in great form, conceded three sets to a rampaging Pakistan side who secured a comprehensive 3-2 win.

After losing out in the first and second sets, India forged a powerful comeback in the third set and crushed the Pakistan challenge with a lead of five points.

The fourth set began on a competitive note with neither side being able to get a lead of more than two points. With the third and fourth set already in its pocket, India failed to capitalise the advantage in the fifth set as Pakistan made the most of India’s frayed nerves, making an exit with an overall thumping win.
