Indian Grand Prix set to return in 2026
Due to operational circumstances, the event has been pushed to an early 2026 timeline, as opposed to 2025.
The The Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), International Road Racing Teams Association (IRTA), and Dorna Sports have officially announced that the Indian Grand Prix will be featured on the MotoGP calendar in 2026, as opposed to the earlier timeline of 2025.
In July, MotoGP secured a new agreement with the Uttar Pradesh government, where the Buddh International Circuit is located.
However, due to operational challenges, the race will now serve as a reserve event for the 2025 season.
This year’s Indian Grand Prix was canceled due to logistical issues.
"Operational circumstances have obliged the event to be delayed from its initial slot near the start of the 2025 calendar," MotoGP said in a statement.
"With no available dates towards the end of the season, MotoGP will therefore return to India in the early stages of 2026," they added.
The event will be held at the Buddh International Circuit, the premier Indian motor racing circuit situated in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
The Indian Grand Prix motorcycle event made its debut in 2023, with a rapturous fan reception.
Over 100,000 fans attended the event, with Italy's Marco Bezzecchi of team Ducati winning the Moto GP event.
Spain's Jorge Martin, of team Ducati finished second in the podium while Frenchman Fabio Quartararo of team Yamaha finished third.
Due to hot and humid weather conditions, the races were shortened, with the Moto 3 and Moto 2 events shortened by a lap and the MotoGP event reduced by three laps.
