Mumbai Half Marathon, set to be held on Sunday, is set to draw over 20,000 participants, including more than 6,000 women, marking a 31 per cent hike in the number of female participants this year.

The half marathon will kick off at 5:00 am Indian Standard Time (IST) at Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex.

The 10K race will draw the maximum number of participants since over 8,000 people registered for the race. The 21K half-marathon, meanwhile, will see 4,000 runners competing, including some elite athletes.

In the 5K race, more than 5,000 runners will take part, while the 3k race will draw 3,000 runners.

The Mumbai Half Marathon will also feature 1,500 runners from the Indian Navy.

“We aim to promote running as a fitness avenue, bringing this vision to life. It is heartening to see a significant increase in registrations for the Mumbai half-marathon this year,” said former India cricketer Sachin Tendulkar said in a release.

Last year, Maharashtra's Chhagan Bombale and Haryana's Bharti dazzled the crowd at the coastal city as they went on to win men's and women's events.
