Hockey: Punjab to host Asian Champions Trophy, announces CM Bhagwant Mann

The Punjab chief minister Bhagwat Mann, on Tuesday, said that the state is all set to host the 2026 Asian Champions Trophy in October.

"It will be for the first time that Punjab will be hosting an international hockey event. The matches will be played in Mohali and Jalandhar," said Mann, as per The Tribune.

The state will also host a four nations tournament annually, claimed the Chief Minister.

While neither Hockey India or Asian Hockey Federation have announced anything regarding the same, as per reports the Asian Champions Trophy will commence either on 26 or 27 October later this year.

If Punjab hosts the continental tournament, it will be the second edition of the Asian Champions Trophy to be held in India in three years. The country had hosted the 2023 edition in Chennai.
