India beat Pakistan 5-3, win third successive Men's Junior Asia Cup title

The hero of India's thumping victory over Pakistan was Araijeet Singh Hundal, who scored four goals, while Dilraj Singh was the other scorer for India.

India won the Men's Junior Asia Cup in Oman on December 4, 2024. 

The Indian men's junior hockey team won their third successive Men's Junior Asia Cup title after they beat Pakistan 5-3 in the final in Muscat, Oman on Wednesday.

It was India's fifth title in the Championship.

The hero of India's thumping victory over Pakistan was Araijeet Singh Hundal, who scored four goals, while Dilraj Singh was the other scorer for India, leading to India's magnificent win.

Araijeet scored three of his four goals from penalty corners in the fourth, 18th and 54th minutes. In the 47th minute, he scored a field goal. Dilraj scored in the 19th minute.

For Pakistan, Sufyan Khan (30th, 39th) scored the two goals from penalty corners, while captain Hannan Shahid scored from field play in the third minute.

Pakistan took the lead in the game in the third minute with Shahid scoring a field goal. But India roared back and equalised seconds later by converting a penalty corner. Araijeet then stepped up to draw level with a powerful drag-flick to the right of Pakistan's goalkeeper.

In the second quarter, Araijeet scored in the 18th minute before he struck again with another powerful flick.

A minute later, Dilraj extended India's lead to 3-1. Pakistan, however, reduced the margin in the 30th minute through a penalty corner conversion by Sufyan.

Pakistan looked better in th third quarter and drew level in the 39th minute with Sufyan scoring from a penalty corner.

Araijeet, however, reclaimed India's lead by completing his hat-trick as he found the net from a field effort in the 47th minute.

In the dying minutes, India pressed hard for a goal and Araijeet hit the board again to seal a 5-3 victory for India.
