Asian Games 2026: Jugraj, Abhishek and Dilpreet hit hat-tricks as India win 16-1

Jugraj Singh, Abhishek and Dilpreet Singh scored hat-tricks as India produced another emphatic victory at the Asian Games, thrashing Sri Lanka 16-1 in their second Pool A match on Tuesday.

Jugraj led the scoring with four goals, while Abhishek and Dilpreet struck three each as India followed their 13-1 win over Indonesia with another big victory in Kakamigahara.

Mandeep Singh opened the scoring in the fifth minute before Jugraj doubled the lead with a penalty-corner drag flick. Abhishek added another a minute later, with Harmanpreet Singh and Abhishek extending India’s advantage to 5-0 inside the opening quarter.

Jugraj converted another penalty corner in the 22nd minute before Sukhjeet Singh and Dilpreet Singh added to India’s tally. Dilpreet’s first goal gave India an 8-0 lead at half-time.

Manpreet Singh and Vivek Sagar Prasad added two more after the restart before Dilpreet scored again. Jugraj then completed his hat-trick from a penalty stroke, while Harmanpreet converted another penalty corner to make it 13-0.

Abhishek completed his hat-trick with a back-of-the-stick finish before Sri Lanka pulled one back through Suresh Rathnayake in the 50th minute. It was Sri Lanka’s first goal against India in Asian Games history.

Jugraj added his fourth from the spot before Dilpreet completed his hat-trick to seal the 16-1 scoreline.

India head coach Craig Fulton said the first two matches had provided useful preparation ahead of tougher pool fixtures against South Korea and Japan.

“We need to use it and use it wisely,” Fulton said, describing the matches as an opportunity to sharpen India’s attacking play.

India will next face South Korea on Thursday.
