HIL Highlights: UP Rudras blank Soorma Hockey Club – Updates, Results

HALF TIME!

A much, much better second quarter from the Soorma Hockey Club. They had more control on the ball and called the shots in that phase of play, but they unfortunately do not have anything to show for it in terms of goals.

The Soorma have earned eight penalty corners in the first 30 minutes of play so far, but haven't been able to convert anything.

UP Rudras continue to ride on their one-goal advantage, thanks to Sudeep Chirmako, who scored as early as the second minute of the match.

27' - Beautiful pass from Keenan

A good move on the left flank from Soorma Hockey Club and Nicolas Keenan comes up with a beautiful pass into the circle with a tomahawk. Pawan Rajbhar comes in running and desperately dives to push the ball into the net, but his deflection goes wide.

Lucky for the UP Rudras there.

25' - Soorma struggling with their PCs

A rookie error from Akashdeep helps Soorma get a PC. Harmanpreet Singh steps up to take the drag flick and hits the first rusher. They are handed a second and this time Mazarelo saves it.

The penalty corners were supposed to be Soorma Hockey Club's biggest strength with the presence of Harmanpreet and Hayward, but nothing seems to be happening for them tonight. 8 PCs wasted!

22' - Soorma miss four PCs back to back

The first drag flick from Harmanpreet takes a stick and hits his own teammate Maninder Singh on the head. He is thankfully okay and just steps out of the field.

The second drag flick from Harmanpreet hits the first rusher on the leg and gives them a third. Mazarelo saves the third before the rebound chaos hands Soorma a penalty corner once more.

The fourth and final one is hit wide by Harmanpreet.

21' - PC for Soorma

Pawan Rajbhar is doing some heavy lifting on the forward line for the Soorma and they earn a penalty corner from the left flank for them.

The UP Rudras take early charge in the second quarter as well. A good pass down the line in the right flank, but the Soorma defence does well to not leave any space and squeeze them out.

That's the end of the first quarter. It has quite clearly been the UP Rudras half, who have not let the intensity drop after scoring early. The Soorma Hockey Club have been guilty of gifting away possession and then making it too easy for the Rudras, when they come on the attack.

11' - Soorma miss two PCs!

The first one is a drag flick from Jeremy Hayward hit straight into the first runner. They fail to trap the injection properly in the second attempt. Della Torres still manages to take a shot, but it is not enough to go past Mazarelo.

10' - Brilliant from Hardik

Hardik Singh steals the ball in the mid-field and goes on a brilliant run right down the centre, dribbling past at least three defenders. He passes the ball to Akashdeep inside the circle, who fails to get a proper hold of it.

Just taps it towards the goal and Vincent Vanasch clears the danger rather easily.

6' - Good save, VANASCH!

Sudeep Chirmako once again with some good skills in the left flank, before passing the ball into the circle. The shot is taken and Vincent Vanasch saves, but the ball rebounds high and is counted as dangerous. 

A PC for the UP Rudras and Vincent Vanasch stops Kane Russell's drag flick with relative ease.
