Highlights as Soorma Hockey Club takes down Rarh Bengal Tigers in the Hockey India League.
HIL Highlights: The Soorma Hockey Club returned back to winning ways as they took down Rarh Bengal Tigers 2-1 in the 2024-25 Hockey India League at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela on Monday.
Prabhjot Singh opened the scoring for Soorma, pouncing on a loose ball inside the circle. Minutes later Maninder Singh pounced on a rebound off a drag flick to double Soorma's lead.
Though the Tigers pulled one back via Jugraj Singh in the third quarter, it was not enough to trouble the Soorma, who walk away with three points.

Rarh Bengal Tigers, meanwhile, have fallen to yet another loss as consistency continues to be an issue for them after a brilliant start to the season.

"This is a big win for us. We came in thinking we need to give our 100%. I was ready for the opportunity and scored when I got a chance," Prabhjot says.
There goes the hooter and Soorma Hockey Club have earned three valuable points. The Rarh Bengal Tigers continue their ritual of not playing any shootout in the 2024-25 HIL. This is now their fourth loss and they have won as many matches too.
The Soormas were desperate for a win and they even ditched their trusted game style for it. They attacked far more than usual in the first half and reaped rewards with two goals. They were soon back to their laid back defensive game play and closed out the match with ease.

This is not looking good now for the Tigers. Just over a minute left and they still are trailing by a goal. Can they force a penalty shootout somehow?

A good run from Abhishek for the Bengal Tigers and there's no one to stop him. He takes a shot from right in the middle of the circle and Vincent Vanasch has to dive full length to keep it out.
However, the umpire soon sounds the whistle and indicates that the shot from Abhishek was off the backstick. The goal wouldn't have stood even if Vanasch had failed to save it.

A tussle for an aerial ball between Gurjant Singh and Hayden Beltz ends with the two clashing. The Indian is rash in his attempt to take the ball in his control and ends up hitting the stick on Beltz's head.
Surprisingly, the umpire doesn't pull out any card. That is lucky for Gurjant.

A good quarter for the Rarh Bengal Tigers as they pull a goal back to keep their hopes alive. Jugraj Singh with a fiery drag flick to get them on the board.
15 minutes of play still left and the Tigers believe they can pull this off.

A penalty corner for Soorma Hockey Club and Harmanpreet Singh's drag flick is saved by Jamie Carr. The umpire feels the rebound off the goalkeeper hit the postman on his feet and hands Soorma another penalty corner.
However, the Tigers ask for a review and the replays shows there was no feet. Decision overturned. A good review by the Tigers.
The penalty corner was awarded in the first place because the Tigers had six foreign players in the field. Only a maximum of five foreign players are allowed on the field at a time.

Yet another penalty corner for the Bengal Tigers and they can't break through this time around. Jugraj Singh with the drag flick and Vincent Vanasch parries it away. Good save.

A nice ball into the circle from the left and the ball finds Pawan Rajbhar, who further receives it and sets it up for Gurjant Singh in front of an almost empty goal.
Gurjant, however, fails to deflect it cleanly. In fact, he fails to get the stick to the ball and that's a good chance missed by the Soorma.
