The Hyderabad Toofans were in action against the Soorma Hockey Club in match number 19 of the Hockey India League 2024-25 at the Birsa Munda Stadium, Rourkela on Saturday.
Soorma was eyeing an outright win as this could have taken them to the second position in the league table but they faced a shootout loss despite leading at the half-time.
As it happened:
Hyderabad Toofans overcame a one-goal deficit as Amandeep converted the penalty corner with his powerful drag-flick, forcing a shootout and confirming at least one point from the match.
They made another comeback in the fourth end of the shootout to level the score 2-2 and won it later in the sudden death by 4-3.
Soorma is now in the third position at the points table with 8 points while Htderababd is in 5th position with 7 points on board.
Soorma won two penalty corners on the trot with just eight seconds on the clock but they couldn't find the target and the match is now heading towards the shootout.
