WATCH: Actor Tiger Shroff makes his professional debut for Mumbay FC
Bollywood action star Tiger Shroff has made his professional football debut for Mumbay FC in the Mumbai Premier League.
Bollywood star Tiger Shroff made his professional debut as a footballer on Wednesday, playing for city-based club Mumbay FC in the Mumbai Premier League.
After a series of box office flops, including his last film Ganpath, which failed to draw audiences, Tiger has taken a break from Bollywood to pursue his lifelong passion for football.
Known for his passion and childhood affinity towards the sport of football, Tiger has been a familiar face at celebrity football games and charity matches.
Inspired by Cristiano Ronaldo, Tiger always wanted to represent the country but never got a chance.
“I always wanted to be a footballer. Football was a big part of my life in school. Representing my country was a dream I never got to fulfill," he said in one of his interviews.
Earlier in the month, he signed as a Mumbay FC marquee player which is a regular feature in the MFA Elite Division.
Started in 1902, the MFA Elite Division was the former name of the Mumbai Premier League and is now the first-tier competition. In the latest season, eighteen teams are competing in the MPL with Mighty Young Joe being the current champions.
It is unsure how long Tiger will pursue professional football despite being on the wrong side of the 30s but he is expected to regularly play for his current club in this season.
