Super Cup 2023: Jamshedpur FC wins 5-3 v/s FC Goa- Highlights
Jamshedpur FC got the better of FC Goa, despite valiant efforts from the Gaurs.
Jamshedpur FC beat FC Goa 5-3 in their Hero Super Cup 2023 opener in a Group C fixture on Monday at the EMS Stadium in Kozhikode. Rafael Crivellaro found the net twice for the Men of Steel with Pratik Chaudhary's header, a deflected Pronay Halder shot off Arnes Arnaout's leg, and Harry Sawyer's late contribution made up Jamshedpur's goals.
For the Gaurs, Noah Sadaoui stepped up with a brace as well, with Iker Guarrotxena joining the party with a crucial goal at a crucial point in the game, when the tide was favouring Carlos Pena's men. Ultimately, Aidy Boothroyd and co. clinched all the three points.
As it happened:
This was one rollercoaster of a match! After Jamshedpur established their hegemony in the first half through Pratik Chaudhury, Rafael Crivellaro, and Pronay Halder's deflected shot, FC Goa showed their intent to come back into the game in the second half when Noah Sadaoui scored his second of the match and Iker Guarrotxena joined the party too. However, Crivellaro's second goal and substitute Harry Sawyer's unconventional goal ensured all three points went to Aidy Boothroyd's team.
FT: FCG 3-5 JFC
Scoring two goals in the final five minutes or so is certainly not impossible, but seems quite improbable right now. Jamshedpur's front like is doing a good job at applying the pressure on the FC Goa defenders.
Jamshedpur gets their fifth goal of the game as Harry Sawyer scores a pretty unconventional goal, but an important one nonetheless.
FCG 3-5 JFC
Alvaro Vasquez deftly flicks the ball towards the goal but TP Rehenesh makes a brilliant save. FC Goa fighting hard for that equaliser!
While the players drink some water, the coaches' minds must be working on overtime. For one, the match could spell a brilliant comeback, and for another, a horrific draw, or worse, a loss.
MADNESS! FC Goa have scored once again! It's Brandon again with curling ball inside the box as a diving Noah gets his head to it and Rehenesh is left rooted to his spot!
FCG 3-4 JFC
Are we smelling a comeback? Brilliant work from Chote who keeps the ball in, Brandon chips it over the JFC players, and Iker heads it in.
FCG 2-4 JFC
Great ball from the JFC backline picks out an outward Ritwik Das who dribbles past FC Goa players, hugging the byline, and passes it to Rafael, who just passes it inside the goal.
