Update: 2025-02-13 14:32 GMT

The Indian Super League (ISL) has seen some prolific strikers over the years, with a few setting incredible records for most goals in a single season.

With Alaaeddine Ajaraie now rewriting history scoring his 20th goal of the 2024-25 campaign during Northeast United's match against Jamshedpur FC, here’s a look at the top five most dominant goal-scoring campaigns in ISL history.

1. Alaaeddine Ajaraie (2024-25) – 20 Goals (Ongoing)

The Moroccan forward has been in unstoppable form for Northeast United FC, breaking the long-standing record for most goals in a single ISL season.

Ajaraie scored his 19th and 20th goals of the campaign against Jamshedpur FC, surpassing the previous joint record of 18 goals held by Ferran Corominas and Bartholomew Ogbeche.

With matches still left in the season, Ajaraie has the chance to extend his record further and set an even higher benchmark for future strikers.

2. Ferran Corominas (2017-18) – 18 Goals in 20 Matches

One of ISL’s greatest-ever strikers, Ferran Corominas, took the league by storm in his debut season with FC Goa.

The Spaniard scored 18 goals in 20 matches, leading Goa to the semi-finals while also contributing 5 assists.

His performances helped him win the ISL Golden Boot, making him the first player to reach this goal tally in a season.

3. Bartholomew Ogbeche (2021-22) – 18 Goals in 20 Matches

Nigerian striker Bartholomew Ogbeche matched Corominas' record in the 2021-22 season while playing for Hyderabad FC.

His 18 goals in 20 matches powered Hyderabad to their maiden ISL title, making him a key figure in their success.

Ogbeche also became the all-time leading goal scorer in ISL history during this season.

4. Nerijus Valskis (2019-20) – 15 Goals in 20 Matches

Lithuanian striker Nerijus Valskis had a memorable season with Chennaiyin FC, winning the Golden Boot in a fiercely contested race.

His 15 goals and 6 assists helped Chennaiyin reach the ISL final.

Valskis edged past Roy Krishna due to the ISL's tie-breaking rule, as he played fewer matches than his competitors.

5. Igor Angulo (2020-21) – 14 Goals in 21 Matches

Spanish striker Igor Angulo was signed by FC Goa to replace Corominas, and he made an instant impact.

He won the Golden Boot in the 2020-21 season with 14 goals, edging past Roy Krishna due to a better goals-per-minute ratio.

Though his tally wasn’t record-breaking, Angulo’s clinical finishing made him one of the most feared strikers in the league.

With Ajaraie now surpassing Coro and Ogbeche, he has etched his name in ISL history.

His 19 goals (and counting) could set a new benchmark that may take years to break.

Can he go beyond 25 goals before the season ends?
