In the post-match press conference following Kerala Blasters’ 4-2 loss to Mumbai City FC at the Mumbai Football Arena, Coach Mikael Stahre  addressed the media about his team’s performance and the lessons to be learned from the match.

Stahre acknowledged the shaky start by his team, stating, “First of all, they came up really well, and we performed poorly. We were not aggressive and stable enough in the first part of the game.”

He noted that Mumbai City took control early on, scoring their first goal with relative ease, leaving Kerala’s defense scrambling.

Despite a challenging first half, Stahre expressed pride in his team’s resilience. “We reacted at halftime, making changes and tactical adjustments. Unfortunately, we conceded a penalty quite early in the second half,” he reflected.

However, he was pleased with how his team bounced back, stating, “I’m really proud of that comeback. We scored two goals after going down, and the feeling in that moment…everyone in this room felt that uplift.”

Stahre lamented the impact of crucial moments that turned the tide against his team

“Unfortunately, we received a red card shortly after equalizing, which disrupted our momentum. We fought until the last second, but Mumbai City deserved the win. I’m really disappointed,” he admitted.

He also emphasized the need for his players to learn from their mistakes, particularly regarding discipline.

Stahre made it clear that Peprah’s decision to remove his shirt during celebration while already on a yellow card was unacceptable: “He will never, ever make this mistake again.”

Noah Sadoui’s return

On the injury front, Stahre confirmed that Noah Sadaoui would be back in the lineup soon, either for the next match or after the international break.

“He was injured, but he’s back on the training pitch,” concluded .
