Watch: 2024, the year Indian football lost its footing
Forgettable international performances marred a year laced with opportunities aplenty.
2024 promised so much and presented numerous opportunities but as the dust settles, the year turned out to be a damp squib.
The men's senior national team played 11 games, lost 6 and drew 5. In all, they scored just 4 goals scored and conceded 15.
The last time India hasn't won a single match over the course of a calendar year was back in 2014.
What's more Igor Stimac was ousted and Sunil Chhetri hung up his boots.
Meanwhile, the women's national team crashed out of the SAFF Women’s Championship 2024, the standout event of the year, after losing in the semi-finals to Nepal.
Additionally, turbulence prevailed over the domestic circuit in the country as well.
Clearly, there wasn't much to write home about as far as Indian football was concerned in the year.
