The reigning world champion Gukesh Dommaraju continued his unbeaten streak at the 2025 Tata Steel Chess Masters as he took down GM Max Warmerdam in round 10 at Wijk aan Zee on Wednesday.

Gukesh, playing with the black pieces, went on the offensive right from the opening as he forced a resignation out of the local star in just 34 moves.

The win against Warmerdam is Gukesh's second in as many games, having taken down compatriot Luke Mendonca in the previous round.

Gukesh continues to be unbeaten in the tournament and has now accumulated 7.5 points out of a possible ten to be in the solo lead. He is also close to the 2800 rating barrier, having reached 2793.6 in the live rating list.

Meanwhile, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu returned back to winning ways as he got the better of GM Vladimir Fedoseev with the white pieces.

Coming into the tenth round following a loss against Anish Giri in the previous round, Praggnanandhaa went all out to earn a full point in 45 moves.

The win helped Praggnanandhaa climb up to third spot in the standings with 6.5 points after 10 rounds. He is half-a-point clear of the fourth placed Fedoseev and is trailing the second placed Nodirbek Abdusattorov by the same margin.

Among the other Indians in action in the Masters section, Arjun Erigaisi played out a draw with Vincent Keymer whereas Pentala Harikrishna also shared spoils with Fabiano Caruana.

Mendonca, who was promoted to the Masters this year, also held Giri to a draw.

Divya, Vaishali lose

Meanwhile, both the Indians in contention in the challengers section – Divya Deshmukh and Vaishali Rameshbabu – lost their respective matches in the tenth round.

While Deshmukh, playing with the white pieces, went down to Svane Fredrick, Vaishali suffered the same fate with the black pieces against Thai Dai Van Nguyen.

Vaishali is currently placed tenth in the standings with five points, whereas Deshmukh is 13th with just two points after ten rounds.
