Divya Deshmukh rises to World No. 15 in FIDE ratings

Koneru Humpy, the highest-ranked Indian in the ratings, R Vaishali and Dronavalli Harika are the other three women in the top 15 of the FIDE ratings.
2024 has been a standout year for Deshmukh as she made consistent rating improvements across a series of high-profile tournaments.
From the Tata Steel Challengers and Grenke Chess to the Sharjah Masters, World Junior Championships, and Turkish League, Deshmukh has ascended from a rating of 2420 at the beginning of the year, amassing 63 points.
Deshmukh is set to represent India at the Chess Olympiad 2024. If she manages to cross the 2500 ratings, it will contribute significantly to India’s bid for a gold medal in the prestigious event.
The 18-year-old became India's 21st woman grandmaster in 2021 and won the Women's Indian Chess Championship in 2022.
She also won an individual bronze medal at the 2022 Chess Olympiad and was part of the gold medal-winning FIDE Online Chess Olympiad 2020 team.
