Twitter reacts as PV Sindhu becomes the new World Champion
Check out how Indian Tweeple reacted to the historic win.
PV Sindhu etched her name down in the history books by becoming India's first shuttler to be crowned the World Championship title, pipping Japan's Nozomi Okuhara in the finals, earlier today in Basel, Switzerland. Billed as a high-octane encounter, PV Sindhu put up a completely contrasting performance to turn it into a one-sided affair to seal the marquee clash without dropping any games at 21-7, 21-7.
It was a rematch of the classic 2017 final where Okuhara got the better of Sindhu. But not this time around. With revenge on her cards, the 24-years-old Indian absolutely toyed with Okuhara giving her no breathing space to wrap up the match in the blink of an eye.
Following the win, Indian Twitterati exploded as the netizens couldn't keep calm. Here's how Indian Tweeple reacted to the historic win.
Hon'ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi was amongst the first ones to wish the ace Indian shuttler on her feat.
Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs (MYAS) president Kiren Rijiju also took to Twitter to extend his wishes.
Former Indian cricket stalwart Virender Sehwag also didn't miss out on the historic moment
India's most promising and versatile doubles shuttler Satwiksairaj Rankireddy took to the micro blogging site soon after Sindhu won the pulsating contest.
A number of other notables took to social media as well to highlight Sindhu's victory.
