Could there have been a worse start in Shooting for India?

It was supposed to be India's day at the Asaka Shooting Range in Tokyo today. Only that it was not.

Complete heartbreak for the shooters, who seemed to have crumbled badly under the pressure of the Olympics. If Abhishek Verma's two bad shots at the end of the qualification round when the pressure was at its peak led to him not qualifying for the final, it was the young Saurabh Chaudhary's turn to replicate that in the final.

The women rifle shooters, on the other hand, looked completely out of sorts and were never really in contention to enter the final.

Much like all the sports fans in India right now, even I do no have words to express the disappointments.

Thank you for joining in. That's all we have from Shooting today at the Tokyo Olympics.

If it makes you feel any better, Manika Batra is leading her single's match against Great Britain's TinTin Ho. Click here to get all the live updates.
