Mithun Manjunath made a rousing entry into the semis of the Syed Modi International and is facing Prannoy-slayer and Frenchman Arnaud Merkle for a place in the finals.

The first game was pretty tense with Manjunath giving a tough time to the unseeded Merkle - but Manjunath lost the first set, 21-9.
