That's all folks!

That is all we have from the India v/s Spain clash at the 2020 Uber Cup. A decent start to the campaign for India, but they surely would have expected a lot better from their veterans - Nehwal, Ponnappa and Reddy.

While Saina Nehwal retired after losing the first game, Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy fell to a loss against a much lower-ranked pair of Azurmendi and Corrales.

But, thankfully for India, the young guns stepped up. While Malvika Bansod and Aditi Bhatt won their singles game in straight sets, the doubles pair of Tanisha Crasto and Rutaparna Panda replicated the same to help India to a 3-2 win.

The main takeaway from this tie though has to be the win for Crasto-Panda and the loss for Ponnappa-Reddy. Should the young blood be the new premier doubles pair for India? Think about it, as I sign off.

Thank you for joining in. See ya!
