Boxing coach at Kanteerava Stadium arrested for sexually harassing a minor athlete

As per the complaint, the coach has been harassing the athlete for six months.

Sexual harassment is a prevalent issue, with 28% of women in sports reporting experiences of unsolicited sexual advances or inappropriate comments from coaches, team members, or officials.

A 50-year-old boxing coach was at the Kanteerava Stadium was arrested by Bengaluru Police for sexually harassing a minor athlete.

As per reports, the mother of a 17-year-old boxer alleged who trains at a club in the stadium, in a complaint alleged that a coach named Ramachandra has been sexually harassing her daughter nearly six months.


The victim has been training at the club since a decade, whereas the coach joined four years ago.

As per a report in Times of India, the coach alleged called the girl to his room during a competition in Chennai earlier this month and despite resistance kissed her and touched her inappropriately.

Similar incidents took place earlier as well as per the complaint.

A case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and BNS section 351 against the coach and he has been remanded in judicial custody.
