Indian women's 3x3 team failed to make the cut for the main draw of the FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup for the second consecutive year in Singapore on Thursday.

India finished second in the qualifying group stage behind Malaysia, where only the group winners qualified for the 12-team main draw competition.

India have reached the main draw in just three of the last eight editions since their title-winning run in the 2013 FIBA Asia Cup.

India began the day with a narrow 13-16 defeat to Malaysia in a topsy-turvy match. The team missed several chances, with only one player scoring more than 5 points.

The two pointers were the biggest difference in the match, with Malaysia having converted five of them while India had just three.

India bounced back strongly in the second game against Turkmenistan, looking much more clinical in finding the basket, claiming a dominant 21-4 win.

But this was not enough for the team, as Malaysia defeated Turkmenistan in the final group game, ending India's campaign in Singapore.

Earlier on Wednesday, the Indian men's team had qualified for the main draw.
