The Indian men's team defeated Chinese Taipei in the quarter-final of the 2026 Thomas Cup in Horsens, Denmark, on Friday.

The former champions cleanswept the tie 3-0 against an aggressive Taipei team and confirmed India's just second ever medal at this prestigious competition.

India fielded a full-strength team with Lakshya Sen in the first singles, and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in the first doubles match.

In the second singles, the 20-year-old Ayush Shetty went in and closed out the match for India with a straight-game win against Lin Chun-yi.

The 20-year-old Ayush Shetty claimed today's first straight-game win for India with a 21-16, 21-17 victory against world no.8 Lin Chun Yi, to confirm a spot in the semis.

This is only the second semi-final in the Thomas Cup for India. The last time, they ended up winning the title in 2022.
