Former world no.1 Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the second round of the Thailand Masters BWF Super 300 event on Wednesday.
Facing Israel's Danii Dubovenko in the men's singles round of 32, the 32-year-old made light work of the match, winning in straight games 21-13, 21-18.
This is Srikanth's second straight win over Dubovenko, having defeated him previously in the 2024 Macau Open back in September 2024.
Srikanth was dominant right from the start, racing to a 6-0 lead in the first game.
Dubovenko couldn't catch Srikanth after the start, and the Indian raced to a 1-0 lead, winning the game comfortably 21-13.
Similar to game one, game two also saw Srikanth race off the blocks, but this time the Israel shuttler put up a better fight but was still not enough.
Srikanth managed to hold his lead and at the mid-game interval, was leading 11-7.
The Indian soon pulled further ahead and closed the game with ease, winning 21-16, and wrapped up the tie.
Sankar Muthuswamy managed to beat Cheam Jun Wei of Malaysia (15-21, 21-15, 21-19) in the men's singles round of 32.
In men's doubles, Ruben Kumar and Hariharan defeated Thailand's Pannawat Jamtubtim and Ratchapol Makkasasithorn (21-18, 21-12).
In the mixed doubles round of 32, Rohan Kapoor and Ruthvika Shivani emerged victorious against Thailand's Weeraphat Phakjarung and Sararat Chueboca (21-8, 21-16).
