P V Sindhu could stay the Badminton World Champion for 3 years

PV Sindhu could well be the world champion for three years.

Sindhu became the first Indian to win a world title in 2019 and was expected to defend the title in 2021 - since Tokyo Games were originally scheduled for 2020. But with the Olympic Games now rescheduled to July 2021, there is little chance of conducting the badminton Worlds next year.

The BWF 2021 calendar has no slots till November end.

Sindhu, however, was not excited about this development. “The most important thing for all of us is when would the tournaments begin. There were discussions about the Worlds, Olympics were postponed and now we all are waiting for action to start,” Sindhu told Times of India on Saturday.
