India Open: Kidambi Srikanth, Kiran George enter men's singles draw

Following the late withdrawals of Shi Yuqi and Antony Ginting, Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Kiran George will feature inthe India Open 2025.

Kidambi Srikanth, the former world no. 1, is searching for his first World Tour title since the magnificent year of 2017.

In an interesting turn of events, former world number one shuttler Kidambi Srikanth entered the men's singles draw of the India Open Super 750 Tournament following a few late withdrawals on Monday.

Along with Kidambi, another Indian shuttler Kiran George will make an entry as top seed Shi Yuqi of China and eighth seed Antony Ginting of Indonesia withdrew from the tournament.

The withdrawals also impacted the singles draw resulting in more changes.

As things stand now, Lakshya Sen will take Ginting’s place in the draw and hence will face Chun Yi Lin of Chinese Taipei in the opening round.

Srikanth will take on China’s Hong Yang Weng while Kiran George will open his campaign against Yushi Tanaka of Japan.

In the women’s draw, PV Sindhu will move to Busnan Ongbamrungphan’s place in the draw and will now face Shuo Yun Sung of Chinese Taipei in the first round.

There will still be an all-Indian clash in the opening round with Anupama Upadhyaya now facing Rakshita Sree SR.

The third edition of the India Open Super 750 tournament will witness the highest participation from the Indian shuttlers as the top names such as PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty, Treesa Jolly/Gayatri Gopichand, and HS Prannoy will look to win the title in front of the home crowd.
