India's ace female shuttler P V Sindhu lost to Japan's Sayaka Takahashi 21-16, 16-21, 19-21 in RD 16 of the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2020 Super 500 at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno in Jakarta on Thursday.

Sindhu is the only Indian player to have survived the 1st round exit scare in the tournament after everyone was defeated yesterday including top shuttlers like Sai Praneeth, H S Prannoy, Kidambi and Saina.

Sindhu, seeded 5th in the tournament, progressed to the Round of 16 after defeating another Japanese Aya Ohori 14-21, 21-15, 21-11 in her opening match. It was Sindhu’s 10th successive win over Ohori.

Sindhu has not shown her sparks after her win at the World Championships in August 2019. She will aim to regain her form back in the Olympics year. In Malaysia Masters, Sindhu lost to Tai Tzu in the quarters after notching up a commanding 21-10, 21-15 victory over Ohori in the pre-quarterfinal match.
