The talented young shuttler, Lakshya Sen beats France's Christo Popov 21-9 21-15 to give India a winning start at the Denmark Open 2020 on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old, a student of India's badminton legend Prakash Padukone, beat 18-year-old Frenchman Popov, a southpaw who is France’s youngest national champion, in the first round of Super 750 event.

Sen travelled with senior compatriots Kidambi Srikanth, Subhankar Dey, and Ajay Jayaram to Odense to play the Denmark Open, an event that is seeing the resumption of international badminton for the first time since the All England Open in March.

However, the Super 750 event will not be the sole purpose for the 19-year-old’s long trip away from India.

Lakshya Sen will play a couple of matches for Danish club Aarhus and train at the Peter Gade Academy in Denmark before travelling to Germany to defend his title at the Super 100 SaarLorLux Open in the city of Saarbrucken. That event begins on October 27.
