BWF World C'ships 2026: PV Sindhu & Co. look to stretch India’s medal streak to 15 years - Preview

India is ready to host the BWF Badminton World Championships for the first time in 17 years at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from August 17 to 23.

The premier badminton event will feature all five individual medal events: Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

India will have 11 entries in this event - three in mixed doubles and two each in the other four events, led by former World Champion PV Sindhu.

The five-time medalist Sindhu will be one of the key medal hopefuls for India alongside world No. 5 men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.

Sindhu will start her campaign on Monday against much lower-ranked Sophia Noble of Ireland in round of 64. Her first big test will be in the pre-quarterfinals against Wang Zhiyi of China.

In men's singles, former world medalist Lakshya Sen and the rising star Ayush Shetty will also fight for medals in one of the most competitive fields of the event.

Ayush will have the toughest first round draw amongst Indian shuttlers as he is up against the top seed defending champion Shi Yuqi of China on Monday.
