2026 BWF World Championship Highlights: Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand made it to the semi-finals of women's doubles, while Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty crashed out at the 2026 BWF World Championships on Friday.
Treesa-Gayatri, the first Indian women's doubles pair in quarters in 15 years, took down the fourth seeded Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian 16-21, 21-15, 21-13, fighting back from a game down.
Satwik-Chirag, meanwhile, were outplayed by nemesis Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang 18-21, 9-21 in straight games.

While Treesa-Gayatri became the first Indian women's doubles pair in 15 years to reach semi-finals and ensured India's medal winning streak at the BWF World Championships stayed alive, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty were outplayed in their men's doubles quarter-finals.
It means that Treesa-Gayatri will be the lone medallists at the home world championships for India. It certainly is an improvement from the last time India hosted the global event in 2009, but surely more was expected out of the shuttlers in Delhi.

Liang and Wang have started well in the third game, racing to an early 3-1 lead. Satwik-Chirag getting caught off guard multiple times.
No they can't. An error at the net from the Indians and they have conceded the opening game 18-21, after leading for most of it.
The Chinese pair assert their dominance, winning five consecutive points to close it off.

Liang and Wang press on the accelerator when required. They pocket four points in a row and have two game points at 20-18.
Can Satwik-Chirag fight back?
Satwik-Chirag have managed to extend their lead post the intervals as Liang-Wang make a couple of errors. The Indians are up 15-12.
They didn't have the best of starts, but Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty have emerged with a slender 11-10 lead at the mid-game interval of the opening game.
Both pairs have matched each other shot-for-shot and if it is anything to go by, expect a long drawn out battle!
