BWF World C'ships Day 3: Sen suffers shock exit; Sindhu, Ayush through - Highlights

2026 BWF World Championships Highlights: The third day at the 2026 BWF World Championships in New Delhi was another mixed results for the Indian shuttlers.
Lakshya Sen was ousted by Garret Tan, a relatively unknown shuttler, 19-21, 21-19, 17-21 in 73 minutes. Unnati Hooda also lost a close match to Canada's Michelle Li 21-11, 9-21, 21-23.
Meanwhile, it was a smooth sail for Ayush Shetty and mixed doubles pair Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto. PV Sindhu was also stretched a bit, but managed to wrap in straight sets. She will now face world no 3 Wang Zhiyi.
The men's doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty got a walkover as Scotland's Alexander Dunn/Adam Pringle pulled out due to injury.

- Women’s Singles: [9] PV Sindhu beat Wen Yu Zhang (Canada) 21-16, 21-17
- Men’s Doubles: [5] Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty WO Alexander Dunn/Adam Pringle (Scotland)
Sindhu emerges victorious with a 21-16, 21-17 in 35 minutes. She's now through to the third round and World no 3 Wang Zhiyi will be her opponent.
Sindhu is being stretched in the second game. She still holds a two-point cushion at 17-15, but Zhang has matched her point for point and winner for winner.
The Indian will need to stay composed as the game enters its crucial stages.

Zhang goes for a reverse slice and she gets it right as Sindhu falls short. Score 6-all.
Sindhu has started the second game well. She wins the longest rally of the match so far. 19 shots exchanged and the Indian takes a 6-4 lead.
Sindhu may not have got all the line calls right, but she gets the most important thing right and that is winning the opening game 21-16 in sixteen minutes. The Indian moves one step closer to the next round.
