As Ayush Shetty etched his name in record books, becoming only the third Indian to reach the final of Badminton Asia Championships on Saturday, Indian fans were left scrambling for the broadcast to catch a glimpse of their newest star.
Even as eight countries – Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Indonesia, and hosts China – had the tournament aired on television, it has found no takers in India.
Since the tournament started, fans on social media have been often relying on pirated links to catch their favourties including the likes of double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, veteran HS Prannoy and others in action.
This, however, is not the first such occurrence in the continental championships. While the BWF World Tour events are regularly streamed or broadcasted at least since the quarter-final stages, the continental tournaments hosted by Badminton Asia have always left Indian fans without a telecast over the years.
Where to watch Ayush Shetty's Final?
Ayush Shetty's semi-final against world No 1 Kunlavut Vitidsarn was streamed LIVE on Badminton Asia's Facebook channel.
Considering the same, it is almost certain that his men's singles final against former world No 1 Shi Yu Qi of China will also be streamed at the same place.
So, if you find yourself scrambling for Ayush Shetty's 2026 Badminton Asia Championships final match broadcast on Sunday, head on to Badminton Asia's official Facebook channel. If you are lucky, you might find it there!
