Asian U23 Athletics C'ships: Anand Singh wins javelin gold – Full list of medallists

Javelin thrower Anand Singh won India's first and only individual gold medal at the inaugural edition of the Asian U23 Athletics C'ships in Ordos, China, on Sunday.

The 22-year-old breached the 80m mark for the first time in his career, winning the title with a best of 80.57m. Meanwhile, Shivam Lohakare (77.70m) bagged the bronze medal to make it a double podium for India.

Later in the day, India added another gold as the women's 4x400m relay team of Shravani Sangle, Sandramol Sabu, Pravallika Narimalla, and Nofisa Khatun clocked 3:33.62s to edge past hosts China (3:35.14s) in the final.

In contrast, the Indian women’s 4x100m and men’s 4x400m relay teams claimed a silver medal each, while the men’s 4x100m team finished fourth.

With this, India ended their campaign in Ordos with 16 medals, including three gold, four silver and nine bronze medals to finish fourth in the medal tally behind China, Japan and Uzbekistan.
