2026 World Athletics Relays Highlights: Mixed 4x100 team sets NR

Catch all the highlights from the second day of action at the 2026 World Athletics Relays in Botswana.

2026 World Athletics Relays Highlights: Indian 4x100m mixed relay team of Ragul Kumar, Nithya Gandhe, Animesh Kujur and Sneha SS crossed the finish line with a new National Record time, clocking 41.35s. The previous NR stood at 42.30s. They finished 6th in their heat and tenth overall.

A mix up between Ragul Kumar and Gurindervir Singh leads to another DNF for the men's 4x100 relay team.

The women’s 4x100m finished last with 53.90s after a baton exchange slip-up between Tamanna and Nithya Gandhe. Nithya had to return to pick and restart the race.

The men’s 4x100 team was disqualified after another baton exchange fiasco and Anol Jacob pulled his muscle midway through the 4x400m men’s relay, resulting in another DNF from Indian team.

None of the Indian teams qualified for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing.

Jamaica and Belgium emerge toppers.

The men's 4x100m relay team of Harsh Santosh Raut, Animesh Kujur, Ragul Kumar and Gurindervir Singh, is placed in Heat 2, lane 2.

The National Record stands at 38.69s.

They start against Jamaica, Poland, Japan and France. Top two teams from each heat will qualify for the World Athletics Championship 2027.

Indian women finish last with 53.90s after baton exchange error between Tamanna and Nithya Gandhe. Nithya dropped the baton and had to retun to pick and start the race again.

India’s campaign in the men’s 4x400m relay suffered a dramatic setback as the team failed to finish the race. Amoj Jacob was forced to pull out mid-run, appearing to clutch his thigh in visible discomfort.

Japan and Brazil top the heat.

The Indian 4x400m Men relay team includes: Dharmveer Choudhary, Amoj Jacob, Rajesh Ramesh and Vishal TK.

Indian team starts in Heat 2, Lane 8. The National Record in this event stands at 2:59.05s. They face tough competition from Great Britain, Poland and Japan. Top 2 teams from each heat will qualify for the World C'ship.
