"Past 10 months tested me in ways I never expected," says Neeraj Chopra after CWG silver

India's two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra, on Wednesday, reflected on his tough road to the 2026 Commonwealth Games silver medal.

"There are throws that travel far, and then there are moments that carry the weight of an entire journey," he wrote in a social media post. "This one means so much more than the distance."

Chopra, who had bagged the men's javelin throw gold medal on his Commonwealth Games debut back in 2018, had been struggling with injuries in recent past. It even ended his medal winning streak at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo last year.

"The past 10 months has tested me in ways I never expected," he said. "Recovering from multiple injuries, rebuilding my body, finding my rhythm again, and learning to be patient when all I wanted was to compete.

He noted that he wasn't even sure if he'll compete in the 2026 season and still had to push through to give it a shot.

"I was training every day without knowing if I will even have a season to compete this year," he said.

"To be back competing at this level feels good," he added.

Neeraj further thanked his team for standing by him after he parted ways with renowned coach and one of javelin throw's greatest of all time Jan Zelezny.

"None of this would have been possible on my own. I’m deeply grateful for the people who never stopped believing in me," he said.

"My physio, Ishaan ji who has been by my side every step of the recovery, helping me get back to doing what I love. My coach, Jai, who has been with me since the very first time I picked up a javelin. My family, that always stand strong with me no matter what the circumstances are," he added.
