Special Taekwondo training centres to be setup in Assam

The All Assam Taekwondo Association (AATA) recently announced that they would be setting up five new taekwondo training centres in the state. The decision was taken during the special executive meeting of the AATA in Guwahati, a couple of days back.

The first of the five training centres is expected to be setup in the city of Biswanath Chariali. Besides, the association is planning to train skilled taekwondo instructors in the state and has also requested schools in the state to appoint at least one Taekwondo coach.

This comes on the back of AATA’s expansion drive and their desperate bid to increase the popularity of the marital art in the state. The state association also hoped that more and more women from the state will take up the martial art as a form of self-defence, which would help them develop the sport further.

The announcement was made in the presence of the Arjun Chandra Barman (President AATA), Reva Kanta Gogoi (General Secretary AATA) and Dibyajyaoti Das (President – Biswanath District Taekwondo Association).

This move from All Assam Taekwondo Association is expected to give Taekwondo a huge push in the state. AATA would be hoping that setting up these five training centers would help them in producing more and more Rodali Baruas and Dipika Hazarikas who would hopefully go on to represent India at a global level.
