Deepika, Harvinder Singh, Priyansh nominated for World Archery Awards

Deepika Kumari, Harvinder Singh and Priyansh will be in the race to win an award at the annual World Archery Awards 2024.

Three Indian archers- Deepika Kumari, Harvinder Singh, and Priyansh were shortlisted for the 2024 World Archery Awards on Monday in their respective categories.

Priyansh is nominated in the Compound men category while Deepika Kumari is nominated in the Recurve women category. Double Paralympic medalist Harvinder Singh was nominated in the Para archery men category.

There are a total of nine prizes in the 2024 World Archery Awards with six category trophies and the voting will be open for the public till midnight CET time on 10th January 2025.

The overall Athlete of the Year trophy, which has been won by Ella Gibson and Marcus D’Almeida since its reintroduction in 2022, is decided by a panel of journalists.

Among the frontrunners this year are armless Paralympic Champion Matt Stutzman, triple Olympic gold medallists Lim Sihyeon and Kim Woojin, and nine-time Hyundai Archery World Cup Champion Sara Lopez.

The winners will be announced across online and physical events in early 2025.

India won three awards in 2023 with Aditi Swami winning the Breakthrough of the Year award for her incredible performance in Compound Archery, Sergio Pagni winning the Coach of the Year award for establishing Indian dominance in Compound Archery, and Sheetal Devi winning the Para Women Archer of the year award.

The year 2024 has been a poor year for Indian archery with the Indian recurve archers failing to put up a good show at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
