Bodybuilding as a sport has a chequered history in India. Though there have been quite a few young talents, they failed to make a big mark on the international stage. This was basically due to administrative ineptness and factionalism within the National body. But now, the Indian Body Building Federation seems to have sorted out internal differences and the sport is on track again. The Indian Body Building fraternity got a fillip with the recent visit of Kai Greene, the American Pro bodybuilding champion to the country. Greene, who was on a whistle-stop tour to promote the sport as an ambassador, was quite impressed with the potential of Indian bodybuilders.
“There is a growing awareness about the sport and many young Indians seemed to have embraced bodybuilding as their chosen sport. Given good support and modern training infrastructure India could produce world-class contestants,” says Greene
In this endeavour, Greene hopes to play a positive role and will be launching his Kai Greene Gyms under the brand name of Dynamik.
"It is going to be just that dynamic. We plan to get best of training equipment and provide the latest techniques," says the American ace.
Greene has an interesting past, growing up in foster homes in Brooklyn, New York, he found his calling as a teenage sensation in bodybuilding. He has won several titles in a career spanning over two decades, which includes Arnold Classic and Olympiad Competitions.
