In wake of the outbreak of Coronavirus the Indian High Commission being adamant about not allowing visas to the wrestlers and officials traveling from China for Asian Championship beginning 18th February Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) risks losing future events from the International Olympic Committee.

As per a report in the Times of India on 15th February the WFI has issued several reminders to the Indian health ministry, the ministry of external affairs and the Indian High Commission in Beijing regarding visa applications of 30 Chinese wrestlers and 10 support staff but there has been no response yet.

WFI has got all the related reports of the players and officials being safe to travel but the high commission is nowhere near to changing its stand.

The fear of losing chance to host future events comes after last year's decision of Indian Olympic Committee (IOC) to not let India host any shooting events after it denied visas to Pakistani shooters.

The report says that the government could allow visas for the players and match officials. But, the government is worried that granting visas would compromise the safety of the Indians.
